A good load development piece by R Moritz, BPCN

In the latest edition of the Black Powder Cartridge News, Fall 2021, Rick Moritz authors one of the clearest descriptions of how the rifle barrel vibrates while the bullet is traveling to the end of the muzzle and the effect it has on the bullet impact down range producing the least vertical spread.
I use a close variation of the load development method Rick describes and it is good to see it laid out and written in a very easy to read and understand essay.
    Check it out.

Chill wills, haven't read the article yet but will shortly but wanted to chime in.

I have not shot black powder yet but am just getting in to it.
But have done extensive reloading of many calibers with smokeless over the last 50 years and although there are many many things that effect accuracy the one point MOST beginning shooters/reloaders don't recognize is barrel harmonics, even though as they reload for accuracy that is what they are actually adjusting.
A few points I have learned over the years for accuracy.
Each fired round must have the same ignition and pressure going down the barrel, to control the snake your barrel turns into before the bullet leaves the barrel. "Harmonic vibration".
Velocity is great but it can or cannot equal accuracy. Adjust your velocity to control the snake your barrel turns into as pressure builds.
Squeeze and follow through are a must for consistency.
Just mentioning this as it might help some beginning reloaders in their quest for finding a perfect round. Thanks for the article.

BBL harmonics can have great effect on bullet stability and impact. Harmonics can have such effect as to destroy space rockets!
    Do I have a knife....Ive got my pants on don't I.
