Oysters stewed in milk and butter, add black pepper or a touch of hot sauce. So hot you can't eat it. A handful of crackers and go away and leave me be for a while, don't want to be distracted.

From raw to cooked in any recipe, l love them. But only in months that have an "R" in them.
Always loved them, and have eaten them every way described above. Suddenly at 50 I developed an allergy to them and mussels, the things dang near killed me before I figured it out.
Y'all flung a cravin' on me in here yesterday, last night my wife and I ate out to celebrate our 43rd anniversary. I had 1/2 dz cracker crumb crusted fried oysters with lemon dill cream sauce for an appetizer--- YUM!
I've eaten a ton of raw oysters. Dad used to get them by the bushel and we would clean them and shuck them. I started cleaning oysters when I was about 5 yoa. My brother, sister and I would sit around a #10 tub with water and oysters, use a wire brush to clean the cunk off them and Dad would shuck them. Later, it was my sister and I, as my brother had been promoted to shucker. As time went on, brother and sister were doing other things, and it was my Dad and I. I worked for a Sheriff, later on, and when election time came around, he would host fund raising shindigs. 1 or 2 of these would be oyster dinners, raw and fried with all the trimmings. I shucked bushel after bushel of oysters there. Still was doing it with my father on the weekends. Sit there with a pack of crackers, lemon halves and tabasco. Every now and then, take a break, shuck an oyster, put some lemon and tabasco on it and--slurp. Chase it with a cracker. About 1981, I was reading about and hearing on the news, problems with pollution and "tainted" oysters in the market causing sickness and death. I vowed only to eat oysters that Dad got. One of the guys from the ID department came in one day and invited me to have am oyster lunch with him. I said no, I don't eat oysters that I don't know where they came from. He said, "Nah, these came from certified beds." I thanked him but said no. Another investigator said she would love to share with him and he said fine. They had a good lunch, after a bout of bad gastrointestinal problems, they came back to work after 2 days. Other than with my Dad, I have had no raw oysters since 1990. Love to eat them, but just leery of how good they are.
One of my father's favorite statements: "If I say a chicken dips snuff, look under his wing for the snuffbox" How I was raised, who I am.
I think eating oysters is just fine as long as someone else is doing it.
Paper targets aren't your friends. They won't lie for you and they don't care if your feelings get hurt.
If I am going to eat oysters they will be in a fried oyster poboy.
I eat them on a cracker. But first, in the shell, squeezed lemon, Tabasco.
Gonna try some on my new pellet smoker, just on smoke mode. MMMMM!
yup eating any fish or meat raw should have ended with the first cave man put a chunk of venison on a stick and put it over the fire he just invented. Most of the people i know that eat them raw just swallow them hole and dont chew them. If they were that tasty id have to guess theyd chew them and savor the flavor. I dont put chunks of tenderloin in my mouth and swallow them without chewing. Make mine battered and fried.
I grew up in seafood country and could live without most of it easily for the rest of my days. I now live in a land locked state, people talk about how great seafood is and how they wish they could get fresh stuff. Oh well.
I do like a good clam chowder. And I do like a good filet of (preferably freshwater) fish now and then. Only things I'm eating raw are plants.
Remember a place in Ocean Beach at the end of Newport Avenue that had great oyster tacos. But I like them raw too.
I like raw oysters and clams. Growing up in New England we commonly ate cherrystone, little neck and whole quohog clams with a dash of tabasco.
I do have a proclivity towards sushi and sashimi.
Thanks for the good information are usually go to The gulf coast around Mississippi three or four times a year I get my dose they are they aren’t salty though but they’re still good since I live in Kentucky any fresh oysters good to me
In my 37 years as a Pastor, I have stood by many hospital beds and about 400 graves. Many of those that were seriously ill or died, did so because of things that were not supposed to happen. But lightning strikes people and folks get seriously sick and die from eating raw oysters. I don't stand under the tallest tree in a rain storm and I won't eat raw oysters. The law of averages might not favor me that particular day.
Disclaimer: The above is not holy writ. It is just my opinion based on my experience and knowledge. Your mileage may vary.
every Christmas my ex would make some kind of oyster and milk chowder, said it was her lutheran heritage that would bring good luck. I much prefer smoked mullet and stone crab back when laws were a bit different and I had 900 stone crab pots.
Oyster stew is hard to beat on a cold day. Now that i think about it any day!!
Just the thought of eating oysters, raw or otherwise makes me nauseas.
