Easy enough to try. You might have to use a double thickness of tape.
COME AND TAKE IT
Let’s Go Brandon!!!!
Should be possible. Try it and find out.
Well I don't have the mold so it would be buying the mold and then trying so...
No. It will still be .429 at the parting line measurement.
If you already have a similar sized iron mold, try "beagling" that mold to see if that works.
It's no guarantee, but it's better then a guess.
I've only beagled aluminium molds, don't remember how much I added but it did work for me.
Whacha got to lose? A little time and a little electricity.
And do a search for beagling molds, there has been a bunch written on the subject, may be the info you need is buried there somewhere.
Good luck!
Two layers of tape got me .431 parting line. 432 90 degrees . Yours may vary
Sometimes older Lyman molds drop a little on the large side. If you are buying this from an individual, and it is used, he should be able to tell you what alloy he used and the as cast diameter.
If you have to buy a new mold why don't you order one to fit what you want?
I tried beagling a Lee mold in my early days. The aluminum tape melted off. Then I went with the Lement honing route, and that worked. Oh, and then when the scamdemic reached the stoopid phase, I sold all my Lee molds for an obscene mark up and replaced them with Accurate molds. It was a good trade.
Deplorable infidel
buy mold and try it your alloy maybe spot on or lap it out many posts on how to do that. I did it with a 4 cav H+G mold was a little small and came out great.
