Was doing my range cleaning duties when an elderly gentleman showed up to shoot a couple of rifles. Had a .270 Win and 7mm Rem Mag, both bolt action. He seemed a little confused as to which rifle he was shooting while grabbing a box of bullets. He takes a shot at 100 yds and it's 4" high and 2" left. Then the shell wouldn't extract and he asked me if I had a brass rod, which I did. This is the piece of brass that came out. Turned out he put a .270 Win in the 7mm Rem Mag. Now here's the even better part of the story. He then takes 5 more shots with the correct ammo and they're all in the same group. I would have expected the .270 diameter bullet to be wild, but no, it was right in there with the rest of them. This piece of brass goes in to the example of "what can happen" file.
