    Got serious about melting lead

Got this little beastie the other day. I think the capacity has to be near 100# This is sure a whole lot faster than using the lee magnum to go through range scrap.

I'm also thinking the design shouldn't be that hard to replicate either. First hour production was over 100#

No. Picked it up from a buddy in idaho. Think he bought it in Alaska somewhere. Looks like it's water cut steel.

I'm thinking I can disassemble it and make a template from the parts. Considering making a pattern, or building a copy or two to sell if there's enough interest. Shipping would be a bear though. it's a heavy bugger.

It's really cool for sure. I don't know that I'll ever have that kind of quantity of lead but if I did, that'd certainly make short work of it.

Depending on price I might find one of those useful to have around if you go into production mode for sure let me know.

We had a Vendor Sponsor make and sell those some years back. I believe the name was Little Devil smelter or something like that.

if you were to fill that with water, how many gallons would it hold? I ask because that vessel looks to hold more than 100lbs. 1 gallon of lead weighs approx. 97 lbs.

good question. I will measure the container. but i'm pretty sure it's over a gallon.

That is a Satan's Little Smelter. I wanted one badly 7-8 years ago. The company that made those did them as a side business. They stopped making them and I never found any on the secondary market. That is a great SCORE!!!!!1

That’s definitely the best lead melting set up I’ve seen. If I were starting out again, I would certainly be looking for one of those.

I'm thinking of making a big pot by cutting the bottom (or top) off of a steel hot water heater tank, and maybe welding on some legs if it doesn't have a flat, square base to sit on the propane turkey-cooker burner.
