    45-70 350 & 422gr bullets

Marlin XLR 24" Ballard Deep Groove Bbl. This rifle is sighted in about 1" high at 100 yds with a 350gr GC ( BHN 10.5 ) bullet from my Saeco mold. Vel at 1500 fps using IMR-4198. Today shooting this rifle with a 422gr ( listed weight 405gr ) RCBS GC bullet from the same alloy, at 1500 fps,Attachment 287797 hit's center at 100yds about 1 1/2" high. This strikes me as odd.I would think these two bullets would shoot much father apart.Attachment 287802

That looks great to me. I always expect different bullets to hit differently. That's great yours are not.

Those two weights I wxpected Ranch Dog molds.

    The 350 is my favorite.

If the velocities match, I would only expect that slight higher impact with the heavier bullet.
My 1895CB have just about the same point of impact as yours at a slightly lower velocity of 1350fps. With #457122 & #457193.

    What's your sighting system ? I'm using a Lyman Tang w/ a 1/8" brass bead.
    I HATE auto-correct

Happiness is a Warm GUN & more ammo to shoot in it.

My Experience and My Opinion, are just that, Mine.
