    I am confused.
On all of my TC Renegades and Hawkens the Tang is held onto the stock by Wood Screws.
The trigger is held in by a single wood screw.
The trigger guard is held on with wood screws.
The only TC's that I have seen that had a machine screw that went thru the Tang and down into the Trigger were ones with a Custom Trigger.
But I could be wrong , since there are so many models and variations out there.

On the Blunderbuss I built , I used a 8/32 screw that I had to drill and tap into the top of the trigger housing.
So as far a size , that should be what is needed.
And TC uses standard threads on most of the parts on their rifles.
So that would be what I look at first.
That screw size should be available from your local hardware store.
And can be replaced whenever you can find a Steel unplated screw.
The only issue with current hardware store screws is they are usually Phillips head not slotted heads in both flat head and round head.

My 1984 TC Hawken use 1" x0.264 wood screws on the top tang and 1" x0.185 brass wood screws on the trigger guard. The 1986 Renagade 12 ga uses the same top screws and blued wood screws on the trigger guard. The only machine screw I find on both holds the lock/hammer thru the left side. There is a screw in the back of the trigger assembly on the H but I'm not taking the trigger guard off because I don't want to gaul the head on the back screw, it's kind of tight. If that is the one you are asking about then I'll have another go with my gunsmith screwdrivers.

I have had almost a dozen T/C Hawkins form earlier to later models.
All have had just wood screws for the tang.
I do see pics of the tangs on the web with a machine screw though.
Dug into the web and couple places are out of stock, but they do not mention sizes.
Sorry I guess I'm no help.
