    Silicon grids

I have seen pictures of some using silicon(e) grids to help stand boolits up for baking with powder coating. Where can I get some? Also, how do you handle the freshly powdered boolits without rubbing off fresh powder? So far I have been using the shake and dump method on a tray I made from quarter inch hardware cloth. I would really like something like 5/16" hardware cloth so the airsoft BB's will fall through easy.

The gloves are the BLUE,NITRILE . They will be found in the paint section of any hardware store. Also in the paint section at Walmart. Silicone baking cubes:<No eBay links please>

    Jim22:

Amazon carries the "Trivets" you are referring to. This is the link to one set I bought 3 or 4 years ago - but Amazon says they are no loner available:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

BUT -- looking around on Amazon you will find them from other manufacturers such as this link:

The spacing between the grid walls are different for different types/manufacturers of the trivets. I use several different ones (Square grid, hexagon grid, etc..) to hold different size bolts for shake and bake coating.

You might also try looking at local "Bed Bath & Beyond", Walmart, Target stores etc... in the Kitchen sections. There you are able to check to see how the base will fit into the walls cells.

On Amazon - Mini Silicone Ice Cube Trays 160 Grids Ice Cube Trays makes 3/8" cubes.
I just ordered some last night...
I read that you take a punch and punch out the bottom of each cube..
Then fill up the tray with bullets, lift the tray off to leave your bullets standing for PC'ing..

I bake right in the ice cube trays. Found the info on here and got mine from amazon. The ones I have will hold up to 38 cal. Anything larger than that that I cast stands up on it's own. I use a silicon bake mat for the larger ones.

    30 cal

    22 cal

Pick up the powdered boolit with forceps (tweezers) and shove the base down into the hole in the trivet.
This works great for 22 cal and tall 30 cal.

I only do handgun bullets. I use the bullet trays that others leave at the range. I place the bullets in the tray base up with three trays sitting on a board or another oven tray. (That is all the trays I have will hold.) I then take another tray with a silicon baking sheet on it placed on top of the bullet trays and flip. I do get a few where some of the powder rubs off but very few and very little powder. As for placing the in the bullet trays I just put a little powder on my fingers before grabbing them.

I use tweezers for setting my bullets on the tray. I slipped a short length of matte heat shrink tubing on the tweezers. It increases the 'hold' ability and does not scratch the bullets.
