    9.3X74R and Unique

Loaded 275 gr RFN GC over 20, 21, and 22 grains Unique for a Ruger #1. 20 grains gave me 1576 fps average. Tomorrow we'll see if any are accurate. Maybe take it deer hunting up north this year.
Anyone have another recipe I can try?

I have had great results with the NOE 285gr and 28.5 to 31.0 AA 5744 or Shooters World "Buffalo Rifle (Same powder). 1550 tp 1790 fs usually .75" to 1.25" at 50 yds. Cup point or hollow point hit deer HARD!

Got a #358009 clone to paper patch but it's still on my O2it list.
Still trying to convince myself not to use FFg.

i wish i could help you out, but i'm a sucker for 9.3

i loaded a 275gr wfn gc (https://bullshop.weebly.com/-36-cali...t-bullets.html) in my 9.3x57 using 39.0gr of imr4895(1800-1900fps i guess) and it just kills deer.

i believe Dan had it made from mountain molds(is now retired).

20.5 Unique gave me a 5 shot 4 inch group at 75 yards with NECG sights. That's from a bench. Now I'll load up a bunch and practice off hand.
I found a pound of 4895 while cleaning the gun room so I'll try some of that too.

Shell, I wish I had something to offer. The 9.3 X 74R is still on my bucket list but I'd like it in a double. I just need to find the one I'm willing to pay for.

444, that looks a lot like my 9.3 mold I got from Tom at Accurate. Yours might have a bit more meplat. I bet it is a thumper, mine sure is. I'm shooting 34 grs. of IMR-3031 but I don' think I've run it over the screens and my book is downstairs.

I gave up on trying to shoot cast bullets in my 9.3 x 74. Got a mould in a group buy a few years ago and the loaded rounds wouldn't chamber in my Chapuis when gas checked. The chamber dimensions were just too tight. I tried them without the gas check and they would chamber and shoot but the results were poor. Hope you have better luck.

i've only shot one doe with it and it did a great job. i shot her about 50ish yards and it went behind the shoulder, broke a rib, put a 2" wound channel thru the lungs, broke two more ribs and it was 1 1/2 - 2" exit wound. i remember the rifle going off and at the same time a thwap. when i (the scope)came down from the recoil, she was dead. i've only ever heard of one thwap and that is my 30-40 krag using a 165gr ranch dog. i have killed 6 or 7 deer and my son has killed 5 or 6 deer with the same rifle/boolit. boom, thwap, dead deer. no need for tracking, sorry guys. i am waiting for the one deer who runs after the shot.

Try sizing your GC bullet .001 to .002 smaller and see what happens. Have you slugged your bore? I had to nose size bullets for my Ruger #1 due to a tight bore.

NM; No I haven't slugged the bores and probably won't. The problem is with the gas check and bullet shank. I don't remember what the size is/was across the GC when seated but they just won't go in the chambers. I wasn't able to seat/size the gas check on to the base to a size that would work. No more than I shoot the rifle, I use it for elk where the cover is thick and the range is likely to be 100 yards or less, I'll just stay with jacketed. My rifle is regulated for 286 grain bullets and prefers Nosler Partitions or Norma's and Reloader 15 powder. It wears a 4X Leupold and when I do my part it will put six rounds, three rights and lefts, into a silver dollar size group at 100 yards.
