Same point if impact with red dot and Varget in .223 55 grain FMJ.

This has me a little confused. I joined a club that has a range out to 300 yards. And on the 200 yard line they have 6 gongs. The 8 inch one i can hit with the 1st BDC mark below my cross hairs. With 9 grains of red dot and 24 grains of Varget. I was expecting much more drop with the red dot loads.

Yeah but how close do the two loads hit to each other at 100 yards at 50 at 25? Drop is not the reason

This was 100 yards both loads. On a good day. I had worse lol. Next time out i'll take a splatter burst target along and check groups with both at 200.

Interesting. I never would have guessed you could shoot RD in 223. I would have thought it was way too fast.

Back when I was a kid, my Dad tried to go "off book" with RD and some medium-weight 12 ga. shotshell loads, and IIRC it got real spiky and blew the ribs out of his Cutts Compensator.

Red Dot works very well in a wide range of rifle and pistol calibers.

You do want to be sure you don't have a double charge and use some caution.

Red Dot in rifles likely will not cycle the action.

According to my Lyman manual 9 grains of Red Dot is right at the top end.
But I have had very good luck with 3 grains, 4.6 grains and 6 grains of Red Dot and 55 gr cast.
All depends on what you want to do with them, how far you want to reach.
I truly believe we need to get back to basics.

    Get right with the Lord.
    Get back to the land.
Get back to thinking like our forefathers thought.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you
and give you His peace. Let all of the earth – all of His creation – worship and praise His name! Make His
    praise glorious!

I run a savage axis bolt rifle. Mcarbo trigger kit. UTG 4X16X50 scope. Im thinking about upgrading it to an Burris or Athlon or Vortex. Going to Cabelas today. I want too look through the scopes they have on hand.

The AR platform i can't get into. I had a few AR-22'S. They were fun at 1st. They sat in the safe then for over 2 years. Sold them. A few months ago i put an optic on an AR 15 for my Neighbors Stock accountant. Figured id have some fun with it after i was done. Ran one mag through on and off rapid fire. Put the gun in the box after that. Yet i love my Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60's and savage A22. And i have an old school Springfield Semi-auto i love.
