6.5 X 27R cartridge

I am looking at and contemplating purchasing a rifle chambered for this cartridge. The cases are no problem and CH-4D has the dies. I do not have the rifle in hand so can't slug the bore. COTW shows using a 25 cal. bullet for the 25-20....IIRC. I have a 25 cal. mold so if that's true I'm ok.

So...getting to my real question, has anyone worked with this old German cartridge in a Tesching rifle? If so, may I ask if you slugged the bore and what the groove diameter is? If it needs a 6.5 mm. bullet did you find a mold of appropriate weight and if so, may I ask where.

I like the old rifle, the cartridge is interesting and, according to Donnely's, evidently easily formed. Looks like a fun little project but, I am stuck at the bullet question.

I don't know if it helps much but I looked in QuickLoad to see if they showed this 6.5 X 27R cartridge which I had not heard of. QuickLoad is a European product and has most of those old metrics and sure enough they have your 6.5 cartridge. So for what it's worth, QuickLoad shows the 6.5 X27R as a 25 cal cartridge with a .257 groove diameter. Their next larger cartridge, a 6.5 x 39, is a .264 groove diameter cartridge.

Thanks Earl, I appreciate it! That's another confirmation it's 25 cal. I could not find a 6.5 bullet remotely close to 80 grs. I do have the Lyman bullet for the 25-20 that would work well I think.

The 6.5x27R "P" Tesching in Dixon Book to show a Bullet diameter as .264 or 6.7MM. I have the dies and have formed this. Ch dies are made to accept a 25 cal bullet This do not correspond to any metric catalog I have . All show a .264 bullet. There Is also a rimless version
Since I don't have the rifle or the pistol everything above is just book specs
Now Fred Datig book list the cartridge with a 257 Bullet and does call it 6.5x27Rimmed

Thank you gentlemen very much. Doesn't matter right now, I snoozed and lost. I didn't think that pre-WWI, bolt action, single shot German rifle would fly off the shelf in a week. I guess someone else wanted to play with it worse than I did.
