    350 Magnum pellet sample test....

Posted this on another forum the other day , I thought some of You would find it interesting.

The Women took the four Grandkids to the park for the day. I have been wanting to shoot the RWS 350 Magnum thru the Chrony again. It has over 600 rounds through it now . average of five shots.
    H & N pellets.
    Baracuda Green 12.96 gr=945 fps
    Hornet 16.20 gr =825
    Baracuda Power 21.14 gr=598
    Crow Magnum 18.21gr =740
    Baracuda Hunter 18.21 gr=754
Field trophy Target 14.66 gr =846

    Crosman Premier 14.3 gr =861
    Ruger Superpoint 17gr=790
Most had pretty consistent velocity. The H & N Baracuda Hunter had a low of 751 and a high of 758. The American made Crossman had a low of 855 and a high of 864. The H & N Field Trophy Target had a low of 840 and a high of 851

I had a 350 magnum a few years ago. They are powerful for a springer.

Intresting to see your data. Thanks for the post.

Dang it, I'm going to have to get another chronograph. I want to see what my model 48 does and I have a new CF cartridge.

No I didn't shoot the old one, it just wasn't fireproof.

I've had good luck with those Crosman domed.

Shut UP!!!!! Or we will never find them in stock.

It is amazing how well those cheap pellets shoot. I have an inexpensive ($300) DAR PCP and have fired over 40 five shot groups....average is well under .5" at 25 yards. Gun is not even broken in yet. I expect it will be a 1" gun out to 50 yards with those pellets. There are a lot of "good" .22 LRs that will not hold 1" at 50 yards for every group.

Chrono testing is not important to me. Never seen the point of it, or the hassle of doing it. Groups tell me what I need to know and I tend to shoot a lot of them. Too many folks remember the good ones and forget the bad ones. It gives them stuff to post and brag about. I know a few who enjoy the aroma of their own ********.

BTW, lots of thread drift here, but that is why I enjoy reading what OS OK is doing with his .22's. He shows it all...good, bad and ugly. That is real world stuff and not the "when I do my part" ******** I see so much.

Well I bought a chronograph anyway. Caldwell was on sale with free shipping for about $100 shipped. My 48 isn't shooting a single hole, may be too fast and need tuning. There is no problem with power. Also I want subsonic CF rounds that are just under the sound barrier.

I know for sure I've got 5K pellets and may have added to that. It's a no brainer if I need to fill out an order. I have found them in delivered orders and was surprised I ordered them, whatever brand they were.

I ran some crosman domed across a new Caldwell Chronograph. My RWS 48 first shot was 803 fps then dropped to 750s with a low of 743. It read every shot under overcast.
