    Browning BLR-81 .257 Roberts Weaver 4X

Here’s another one I haven’t shot in awhile. A 90gr Cramer GC with 12.0gr 2400 gave me a 5-shot group of 3.5 inches at 100 yards. I adjusted the jacketed load of Sierra 117gr BT with 41.0gr of H-414 Hodgdon powder to strike 5 inches high at 100 yards, and found it in the black at 300 yards.
This rifle is fairly light, and sensitive to hold; I once tried to use a military type sling in prone position and it opened and displaced the group badly.

Leverguns don't always like the military hasty sling. I get best results resting the forend lightly on shooting sticks or the vee between my thumb and first finger.

I have an 81 BLR 358Winchester. Very accurate if you treat it like most rifles with 2-piece stocks. Try resting the receiver (or at least the rear of the fore end) on the shooting bags. It works with my BLR, my Savage 99, and our range's chief safety officer's Savage 99.

Had a good time. Taught my two youngest granddaughters to shoot the .257, @25 yards, rest, with a load of SAECO #533 95-grain plain base over 6.0 grains WW 231. They turned in nickel-sized 4 shot groups. Ages 10 and 13.

The .257 does great with .250 Savage power level loads and kills just as dead as anything else. My rebarrelled Howa 1500 will put them in the same hole at 100 yards with 38.5 grains H4350 under a 117 grain Sierra.

just wondering are you shooting cast bullets out of 257 at 250 savage power level loads? if so how hard is your alloy or what alloy are you using. ive been toying with idea of casting for a 25-35.

I use the 117 grain Sierra Pro Hunter mostly, never tried cast in it.
