    Help identifying shell plate carrier

This appears to be a 550 shell plate, but Dillion does not list #57 shell plate.

Oddly, a 12 guage shell fits into the plate.

    What do yall think??

Not a Dillon 550 shell plate.
Not a 12 ga shell plate.
the cutout for the 12 ga sized rim does not have an upper lip to prevent
a 12 ga shell from coming out vertically, as it would if it were really for 12 ga.

Not sure what press it goes to.

Do you load for the 5.7x28 or 25acp? If so you're in luck, as that's what its for. It came with #57 buttons, any powder drop?? I know this because I'm the guy who made it. It takes some careful handling to get good results with the small cases at the priming station. Dillon does NOT support either caliber, It is for the RL450/550.

I thought Dillon used to sell the 25 ACP plate and still would if you called. My understanding is they have them made up in batches for custom reloaders that load for the 25. It's one of the few plates I don't have, but I don't really shoot enough 25 ACP to really want one. I agree I'd probably prime off the press, as I could see that being finicky.

SOFMatchstaff, did you work for Dillon?

Its big enough to fit a 12 guage, it WAY to big for 5.7 or 25

As someone else pointed out, there’s nothing to secure the 12 ga shell. That cavity is the relief cut/counterbore for reloading die setup. The small slot in the middle is the caliber that plate fits.

I'm not sure the original photo has the shell plate upside down, go to the website on my prior posting and it is presented in the same orientation.

Doubt if the manufacturer would show it upside down.

But I've been wrong before, just as my mother-in-law.

I think it is installed like the first photo , the 2'nd photo you would not be able to seat primers and the cutout were the 12 gage shell is sitting is for clearance for the sizing die , this would by my opinion by looking at the photos and being a dillon user but mostly 650 and 1050's

Reference posts 7 and 14 as he as the maker should know , and yes first photo shows correct last photos you can see where the ball under the shell plate has been rubbing .
