This song has been stuck in my head...

    For almost three days now!

It's a great song, and I heard it years ago, but it never got stuck in my brain before. Maybe because this time I watched the video, and was mesmerized by it. The lead singer, Mungo Jerry, looks like Wolverine's dad, and is quite a spectacle. I actually watched his latest videos after this one, and at 71 years old, seems like a nice old guy still smiling and enjoying the fame from a hit song 50 years ago.

I like to watch some of the videos with the songs. Most of the people in the videos dont look or act like you picture them before you see the video.

Holey Manoley ... I remember that hit song from 1970 ... But I had no idea Mungo Jerry was a geeky looking white boy with a British Accent ...
I always thought he and his group were Jamacian ...
He still looks and plays darned good ... I watched his u-tube on how to play the song ...I liked it !

Jerry ... the sideburns are out of style now ... you can trim them dude !

Back then we didn't know what the artist looked like unless you bought the LP ... no you tube and no music video's . Seeing what they look like now is sometimes a shock ... I would have bet money Tony Joe White, "Poke Salat(Salad) Annie " and Rainy Night In Georgia" was a black singer .... he wasn't ... I saw him on U-tube ! Man was I surprised !
Thanks for posting these video's ... it's cool to see what these guy's look like !

Listen to that on the am radio back then. We didn’t have an FM stero then.
    Good ole music.

I remember when I first saw Rick Astley. Could have sworn he was a big black guy based on his voice.

And this one was a shocker as well... Wild Cherry.

I was on the fence about this group, but not too surprised. The song is timeless. First time I heard it, I had no idea it came out in the 70's as sung by Ram Jam. But was based on a blues song from the `30's.

When I drove cross country to go home or see one of my sisters when I was in the navy and after I got out and I broke down on the side of the interstate and hitch hike this song always came to mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUjmSYutW5M

I remember listening to that on a transistor radio slightly larger than a pack of cigarettes powered by a 9v battery. It plugged into a base with a better speaker that operated without the battery on 110.

Yesterday I watched Black Sabbath on YouTube at the California Jam in 1974………..great set. Tony Iommi without a mustache, Bill Ward a monster on drums(triplets and all) Geezer Butler with incredible bass playing and Ozzy on vocals of course! Opened their set with War Pigs!

Gimme good ol' big band/swing any and every time. Some of the best writers/arrangers/musicians and vocalists ever worked during that era. Great concert of WWII songs by a modern rendition band. Starts off with a Glenn Miller arrangement of "St. Louis Blues".

Ain't No Way I'm going to get another song stuck ... all day yeasterday , all night long and this morning ...I'm still hearing Mungo Jerry singing ..." In the summertime Da Da Da Da Dee " !
Nope ... Ain't listening to no more songs ...

But I kinda like in the summertime ... getting most of the words halfway right , lots of Da Da Dee's to fill in what I don't know and .. best part ... my singing drives my wife up a wall , a few lines makes her holler ... " Just STOPIT " ... and I can innocently say " Oh , sorry was I singing again " Heh- Heh .

Ha! There is a group that takes modern pop songs and then sings them in 40's big band style. I like quite a few of their songs, but their most popular song is their version of that same song you had stuck in your head...

Here is another new group that has a great sound. The Dead South. Hillbilly bluegrass, country, and Jazz all mixed together. Very pleasant to listen to.
