    stuck bolt on rem 700

I suspect the first question will be," was it reloads" , under the assumption the cause is overpressure. ( i dont [I]think[I]it was over pressure)
Yes they were reloads 280 Rem with 16g of unique over a 168g powdercoated boolit. This was my very first shot of the day. I'd shot the other 30 some rounds of the box of 50 about a year ago. The round that stuck did not recoil any more (pretty tame even in my light mtn rifle so maybe i just didnt notice) The round that stuck hit exactly where it was aimed .
The bolt will not lift/rotate at all. I cannot put the safety on. What should I do to open the bolt ? What else could cause this condition?

I've had that happen, and not with hot reloads too.

I was able to hit the bolt handle with my hand a few times to rotate it.
Worst case scenario, it might take a rubber mallet using several little taps rather than one big one.

I pulled the remaining 14. no doubles no blanks, but of course that doesn't mean the stuck one wasn't overpressure .

16 grains of 2400 is a suggested load. 2400 is considerably slower than Unique. When I think of Unique in a similar cartridge I think 10 grains or so. I could be wrong, as I have been before, but 16 grains of Unique with a heavy for cartridge bullet in a 280 sounds like a hot load. You don't feel pressure as recoil so no surprise there. It may not be over pressure but I tend to lean that it probably is. The rubber mallet sounds like a good idea to me.
Good Luck, and let us know what you find,

Be very gentle when tapping the handle they are very fragile in my opinion. I broke one years ago due to sticking a empty case fired from my other 25-06. I was using the case unsized to establish seating depth for loading the Remington. My fl dies were not set to fl size and the portion of the neck that wasn’t sized just above the shoulder was larger than the rifle I stuck it in. If I had it to do over again I would kroil it liberally, let it sit a day then attempt opening the bolt. Remington replaced my bolt and returned my rifle no charge. New bolt has much better lug contact and now shoots even better. I did not remove the trigger before shipping so I had to do a trigger job upon return.

Maybe over at 16 ? This data is for an almost 10 grain lighter bullet . However at max it’s 600 cup shy.

From the published data it appears as though 16 grains would be OK. Just a bit higher than I would have guessed. Any chance your chamber developed some rust? Can act similar.

A foot of 3/4" copper pipe can be used as a non- marring cheater bar for increased leverage in times like those. Or did your last post mean that you broke it? Yikes, I hope not.
Sending it to Remington isn't an option anymore......

I have successfully used a thin piece of straight grained oak to gain purchase closer to the action against the bolt and tapped many, many times with a deadblow hammer. Seems that is gentler than the cheater or 'bigger hammer" method.

Suspect a double charge. Or powder measure can dump a part charge on 1, then the rest and the next charge on the subsequent drop. I have had enough troubles of this nature as well as no charge, that I always use a penlight to inspect powder level in all cases in the block before seating any bullets.

Well I broke it after turning the bolt . I should have run a dowel down the barrel to push it back.

I am a single stage loader. I do the same thing. I physically look in every case after they are charged before I seat the boolits . I may have missed one but I think my issue is something else
