Mills farm and fleet in Oshkosh, in town for the airshow.

Had un-forecast rain yesterday morning. Killing time until the rain blew out wandered in there hoping for some Blue Dot.

No Blue Dot, but 200 pieces of 303 British is a pretty good consolation prize.

Tried a gunshop on the way home today looking for Blue Dot. No luck.

Still have a couple more gunshops to check when we get off the ferry tomorrow.

In a pinch you can use 444 marlin brass to form 303 British cases and vise versa I believe

You cannot form 303 British cases from 444 Marlin. 444 Marlin brass has a rim diameter of .514", with a rim thickness of .063", and a base diameter of .4706". 303 British cases have a rim diameter of .540", with a rim thickness of .084", and a base diameter of .460. The two cases are totally different.

Not to mention 444 is straight wall and the 303 is bottle neck.

If you want to try reforming I suggest using 405 Winchester brass, but that may be harder to come by then 303 Brit!
Or maybe even 30-40 Krag (haven't checked this one however).

My cartridge conversion book (Nonte) says use 30 40 cases. Trim to 2.209" and run through a 303 die.

Apparently farmers in Wisconsin really, really like .303 British.

Always thought the 8mm Mauser would be a lot more popular, with the number of breweries in Wisconsin in the old days just assumed more Germans than English.

Isn't Wisconsin where Carrie Nation said all German men should be blown up with dynamite because they drink beer?

I know it is where she went after beer barrels in a tavern with a hatchet.

I drank a toast to her memory several years ago in that same tavern, it has survived, changed names but there is a bar in the same building a hundred plus years later.

There's lots of .303 Brit brass in Canada.
It's often thrown away on the range.
Only the true gun cranks reload it.
It's easy to find, but you southern folks would have an interesting time getting it over the border.
I still have four boxes of Herter's virgin .303 brass.
This was made in Sweden by Norma or Metalverken, and has drilled, rather than punched flash holes, which some gurus say is superior.
Jacketed bullets, what a relic. A throwback to the twentieth century. Real men shoot cast.

A lifetime of happiness in five simple steps:
Kiss French, ride German, shoot Swiss, eat Italian, drink Scotch.

303 brass is much easier to find than 30-40 Krag. If you see 30-40 for sale it's a buck each.
