Angry Great news turned into bad news......No 357 gas checks for me

    Unreal

So I was weighing my options on a MP mold and the only ones they had available now are gas checked 358429 molds. I searched the internet high and low for some 357 gas checks and found 1 set of 10000 Hornady for sale on Gunbroker. Not really caring about the price I quickly snatched them up for $40 plus shipping taking it to $70. Whatever...I had some!

Well here we are over a week later and they still never showed up. I reached out and they said they are now on backorder. Come on guys! If you don't have them in stock don't list them as "in stock"!

So now here I am with gas checked mold and no gas checks! Does anyone know where I can get some 357 gas checks? Heck I don't need 1000 I could deal with 100-500. If I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck

Thanks Mattri but $60 shipping or an option of "fees to be determined". Sounds promising...

Unfortunately, there are lots of scammers on the "net". Hope you get your GC's or money back.

Shoot them without checks for now. It's been done before.

Make some bullets and practice the mold.

Powder coat those hollow point bullets, load and shoot in 38 special brass, and see if they are accurate.

Then if you want to, the work up begins.

Can't get to my reloading supplies until later this afternoon but, I may have a few (maybe a couple hundred?) .357 Hornadays that you can have for the price of postage. I quit using GCs not long after I took up powder coating; don't need 'em for my 'moderate' .357 loads using a plain-base Arsenal 162 gr. RNFP. Will PM when I get back to my workshop.

Two hours ago I went to Sage's Outdoor website, placed an order for 1000 30 caliber copper Gator gas checks and 1000 aluminum 6.5mm gas checks for a total of $48.50, shipped.
I just received an email from Sage's Outdoors that the checks were in the mail and would be delivered this coming Friday. They also issued a $2.00 refund.
Pretty hard to beat that in today's market.

In the long run, contact this guy http://www.hollowpointmold.com/contact/ and tell him you want him to remove the gas check portion of your mold. Being at the mercy of finding gas checks whenever and wherever you can is not a good place to be.

Just shoot without them, it won't matter.

Yep, for pistols shooting a GC design without the GC is not that big a deal, especially if you powder coat.

I'm more concerned with the 1894 Marlin. Plus I've read that GC make Marlins shoot a bit better.

I suppose that if you loaded twenty rounds

And fired ten first at a large paper silhouette firmly stapled to a cardboard backer, at close range, that you may be able to check for key holing, accuracy-and whether or not a sight adjustment may be needed, an opportunity to test feeding and check for leading.

Passed those tests?? Then perhaps shooting at a smaller target further away, while still keeping an eye on those things you were checking before..

Before you know it.. you may be working up a load for that marlin with those bullets...

Place an order with Sages Outdoor ( see link in post #5 ) ... Member and site vendor ... he gets them directly from a maker and will have them to you asap and at a fair price .
I believe the company that actually makes the gas checks is :
Bullet Swaging & Supply , inc
    206 River Oaks Drive
    West Monroe , Louisiana 71291
But this web site is under construction and only shows bullet swaging tools and supplies and I'm not sure if those items can be ordered from the site as it is ???

    I don't have their phone # .
