Doug Elliot, AKA Floodgate has passed away. His son called this evening with the news. Doug lost his beloved wife in March; they were both 90 years old.
Doug was an avid Ideal/Lyman collector and researcher, though any old or unique reloading tool could spark his collecting interest. When he had studied every aspect of a tool line, he would pass the tool on to another collector. I have been the recipient of many of Doug's offers. In 2008 he talked me into joining Castboolits to answer many of the "what old tool is this" questions. In 2018 his health was slipping so he passed his reloading tool collection to my care for the benefit of ARTCA, and the following year he passed all his papers and gun books on to my care. In all my wife and I made 5 trips to California and the beautiful Anderson Valley where Doug and Bev enjoyed their retirement years.
It was Doug who talked me into Joining ARTCA and taking over the duties of Journal Editor. His prolific old tool studies kept me well supplied with articles for years.
Doug and Bev had an infectious attitude of friendship for everyone, for me they were a great inspiration and great friends. With their passing my life feels diminished.
