    Hatch pid

I am only offering 1 style unit right now.

Type 1 units have a hardwired thermocouple.
    Type 1 units are $125

Current lead time is @ 2 weeks or less.
    The delay is parts.
The issue is I order enough parts to cover all the orders I have at the time. But by the time those parts finally come in, I have just as many new orders or more then I initially started. It’s a never ending cycle.

As of Jan 7, I will only accept the following payments

    Cash
    Personal check
    Bank check
    USPS money order
    PayPal friends and family
    Zelle
    Venmo
    Cashap

No other forms of payment are accepted.

Full disclosure - I work for DOD and currently I am away from my house 13 hours per day Mon - Fri
So that means that typically I only build and ship on the weekends.
I do try to have some units built and ready to ship but just to let you know that it may still mean that it would have to wait until Saturday to ship.

    Max temp is 1000 f

FYI for some that might need, I do also repair/troubleshoot units that you have built or others have built.

Please keep in mind that in the past 2 months or so life has been kicking my ass so production hasn't been a priority

Your thread is timely, I just was asking about getting someone to make me a PID. I am not really happy with a hardwired thermocouple but can live with it. I could do the mod to make the thermocouple removable myself. What I can't see in the picture is where I would plug in my pot.

Here’s how my Hatch unit is configured for A/C input and output.

I bought a PID from Hatch and must say that it is top quality, and probably the best thing I have done to improve my casting quality.
The PID is easy to set and holds temperature to within 1 degree. Can't go wrong here.

I will second the quality of his PIDs. Have all of my pots set up. Makes casting easy.

There is no problem so great, that it cannot be solved by the proper application of high explosives.

Can you plug in a Lee pot and turn the existing dial to max and run? If not, what needs to be modified?
    Thanks

    You can do that.

On my 4-20 Lee I just removed the factory thermostat and connect the two wire together.

Sorry for all the questions. Is the probe left in the lead all the time? Even when it’s cooling off and becoming solid?

Is there a certain sequence of plugging everything in? Or does it matter as long as the toggle switch is off?

    Ok. Here ya go

If your pot is full of lead now you will have to melt it to mount and insert the probe.
Once the probe is inserted, cut the pot off and let it cool off.
Turn the thermostat wide open on the pot.
Plug the pot into the PID pigtail. Plug the PID into the wall.
Turn on the PID (toggle switch) and hit AutoTune (instructions are provided). Autotune can take up to a hr to run but typically takes about 20 mins or so.
AutoTune will only have to be run once to learn the heating characteristics of the device you’re controlling.
At the end of the casting session you can leave the probe in the pot or you can remove it. I personally leave it in the pot. In fact there is a probe still attached to my 4-20 pot right now and has been sitting there for over 9 years (unused). The 4-20 is full of soft lead and I no longer have a BP pistol.

To answer another question, probes generally last a long time. If you are moving your setup around (like bringing it outside or moving it on the bench) then the probe won’t fail but the probe cable wires will fatigue do to the excessive bending.
I only stock the hardwire model because that is what is sold the most (20-1).
I can build the type 2 unit but it will be more than the old pricing and may take a while for those specialized parts to come in.

With the exception of Dan's order, all orders that received payment for were shipped out on Friday and should be trackable.
