    Scrapyard lead score

I picked up 125 pounds of scrap at the yard for $120. I was pretty happy because there were 43 9 oz. bars of 78/22 solder in the mix.Attachment 286577
    Attachment 286578

Got other interesting stuff, lots of sinkers and more than 200 round balls/buckshot, kind of an odd size for me 0.340" ish. Don't work for 32 or 36.

    Cool.

They were used for other things also, but those bars look like what car body shops used
for dent repair before Bondo came along in the late 1950s.

For extensively repaired car bodies: Today, we have 'Bondo buggies', in the old days, they had 'Lead sleds'.

Check what they're going for, but you might be able to sell the sinkers on Ebay, and make a couple bucks.

Look up on a shotgun chart, those might be a size of buckshot balls.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

Without derailing the original thread, can I inquire what is the current price on lead ingots, mostly WW already smelted, clarified and in ingots. Know someone with a bunch, and I haven't bought lead in forever, always raided tire shops when you could still do it.

Perhaps 000 buck shot? I'll check later for what size .340 is.

Nice haul. Our scrap yard here still will sell lead, but I have a lot more than I'm likely to use up unless my shooting volume increases dramatically when I retire, which it might.

Nice Score! None of the yards around here will sell to the public.

The going prices in the Swapping & Selling section seem to be between $1 and $1.50 a pound shipped. Type metal is a little more.

Yeah, without those it was not really a deal. I should have left a lot of the pipe behind, cutting a smelting made it more expensive than deals here on S & S.
