MP 402-165 Load Data for 40S&W

Bought a MP 402-165 mold for .40 S&W in a group buy a while back and I'm looking for some load data. Sometimes you see some members chatting about particular loads they have used in the purchase thread but I didn't see any? Anyone care to share? Powders I have on hand are Bullseye, Unique, Sport Pistol, Win 231, and Accurate No.5. I've probably committed a sin by having a mold for 4 yrs and it's still new in the box.

Are you referring to this buy (hopefully the link works)?

5.3 Accurate #5 is my goto load for the 40 S&W with that bullet. I shoots great in all 5 of my pistols chambered for it, both revolver and autos and really shines in my S&W 646.

Yep, that's the one. I was hoping the 40 other people in the buy didn't still have theirs new in the box too. Calls for rain this weekend I think I'll cast some up.

Thanks stubshaft. You have an OAL to go with the 5.3 gr? Of course I'll plunk first and start low. Just curious what others are using.

Just one load but have not really had a chance to really work with it.

    7.3 gr SR4756

labradar for the small hp (162 gr) was 1056 fps for 5 rounds. LHP (155gr) 1112 fps for 10 rounds.

I have the 4 cavity brass ( not from a group buy) and have cast a bunch and they drop nicely but haven't shot any yet. Looking for data for Win231 for this boolit.

While I don't have this exact mold, I've got a 170 grain Lee .40 cal (6cavity). I use HP38/231 powder and it functions flawlessly. I don't have the exact load handy, but it was a published load and relatively mild. BTW, the cast bullets were PC'd.

I believe I might have that same one as well or close to it...Lee TL-401-175 SWC. I think was was using around 4.7gr of 231 with that one but I'd have to check. This current boolit from the MP mold is about 9gr lighter at 166gr.

I posted my test results with HP-38/231 in that thread. I tested some other powders and here are some of the more promising results.

Bullseye, 5.0 gr, Avg 1015 fps, ES 13, Std Dev 5
Unique, 5.4 gr, Avg 983 fps, ES 21, Std Dev 7
Unique, 6.2 gr, Avg 1085 fps, ES 13, Std Dev 4
Power Pistol, 6.9 gr, Avg 1043 fps, ES 19, Std Dev 17
    HS-6, 7.5 gr, Avg 1030 fps, ES 27, Std Dev 11

In the other thread I explained how I tested, so I won't repeat that here.
