First Range day with my own Cast Boolits

Took out my Shadow 2 using my PC'd 137gn (MP 359-125) boolits sized to 357. I'm incredibly impressed by their performance. My range only has a 25 yard pistol range. But WOW did these bullets hit the mark.

It feels good shooting something you made
You can now dial in your groups with alloy hardness, boolit diameter, and powder charges

Thats actually my favourite part. I do that with my rifle but more intensive as i deal with seating depth, charge, cartridge weight, bullet weight, different primers/powders etc.

Case length, sort by headstamp, anneal frequently, use a balance beam for all loads, only load on a single stage, check the concentricity of the boolit seating, weight sort all the boolits ------ the list goes on and on

Hahaha I do all that for my 308. Very expensive for all the equipment. Don’t forget neck turning

To save some of the cost don’t forget a lot of members here will gladly share some different bullets with you (usually cheaply or just the cost of shipping) so you can try designs before you buy. I don’t take advantage of that as often as I should before I buy. But I like options .

I never thought of that! Good to know. The only deterrent is shipping it to Canada. I would love to try a 308 “match” cast bullet.

Sometimes casting and PCing kinda feels like work. Then I load them and take them to the range and start a range day, and it all comes together and I don't want to have to leave.

Congratulations on your new adventure into cast bullets in a handgun. Even having done it for decades now, I still find it very rewarding. I've taken game with mine, shot competition with them as well. I got off to a rocky start with my first cast bullets in a handgun, then success finally came. It's nice looking at prices today on a 1,000 rounds of cast bullets online for sale, then sitting back and smiling at how little mine cost me. I gathered most of my alloy long, long ago. Keep up the great work.
