    147gr 9mm and 220gr 300 Blackout.....any powders they can share?

I'd like to grab powder for my new 9mm MP 147gr HP mold but I'm also shopping for a 220gr 300 Blackout mold and since I need to buy new powders for both, I'm curious if there are any powders that will work for both?

Right now, of the powders I can use for my 9mm, my dealer can get me:

    700X
    Titegroup
    W231

But I also have a bunch of other powders. Those three are just what are available to buy that'd work for 9mm.

Any thoughts on the 9mm and 300 Blackout sharing powders?

...or is it just easier to buy 2 different powders?

EDIT: I'm looking for both rounds to be subsonic.

    Thanks!

I load AA N100 (old formula) in 147gr 9mm ( I have alot of it) and SW Blackout (1680) in 300 BO with 230 Lee or 235 NOE. I am happy with both. I tried finding loads for both with a multitude of powders but these work the best for me. I only shoot 300BO subsonic and have never tried the lighter bullets.

I need to update the OP....yes BOTH will need to be subsonic loads.

    Thanks!

1680 is the "go to" powder for subs in 300 AAC for most.

Not a fan of TG with anything, so I would vote w231 for the 9mm. I use RedDot, WST, Alliant SP, W231, Ramshot Comp, all will work.

If the 300 blackout is in a bolt, the powders listed will probably work. If you’re trying to cycle an AR you’ll need something like 1680, H110, or similar and not really compatible with 9mm.

Titegroup is my favorite powder for subsonic 9mm, use it under 147gr coated bullets in my suppressed AR-9. It is not position sensitive, is relatively clean burning, and is quiet. It is however possible to double or triple charge a case, so use good practices to prevent this.

As reddog81 said, I’m not sure that you’ll get enough gas from any of the powders to reliably run an AR in 300blk

I do have some H110 so that help.... how much for loading 230gr subs? Is 180gr subs possible with H110?

    Thanks

Do NOT download H110 or W296. I run a 170 & 180gr with 2400 sub, will operate the gas. Go to Hodgdon load data, several powders will work. Sierra also has data for the heavies. Pistol powders go over max pressure to operate the gas system.

What do you mean don't download? I have both 110 and 296.

I'll be starting with a 180 309 Lee and possibly upgrading to a 230gr Lee

    Thanks

H110 is unpredictable if you load at less than the recommended amounts of powder. It is a poor choice for target, powderpuff or subsonic loads. I assume the same for W296, but I don’t load it.

W296 and H110 are the same powder. And yes, as you say, never download it more than 3%. And make sure you use a magnum primer if the load calls for it (no idea what is called for in 300 Blackout, but in a revolver, magnum primer every time).

Thanks, and agree on use of a mag primer.
