Question .32 S&W SHORT roll crimp?

    Been reloading for a while.
New to .32 S&W short though. Are roll crimp dies available? Do you even need to roll crimp .32 S&W short?
    Thank you for your time.
Aim High! It allows for bullet drop.

That is such a little pipsqueek, I would think the crimp of a seating die would be fine.

ndnchf got it…anything more than the squeeze that comes with virtually any seating die is probably overkill. I can’t imagine a scenario where any load you’d use in a 32 S&W (“short”) round would cause bullets to back out. Even if they do, as long as they don’t block up your cylinder (highly unlikely) the wild hamster you shoot with that bullet will never know the difference.

I've done a fair bit of loading and shooting of the diminutive 32 S&W, and nothing beyond what your seating die does is necessary. If you manage to concoct a hot enough loading to require a crimp, you will probably only fire it once.

A .32 ACP seater should be able to do a roll crimp on .32 S&W, but with the mild loads used a crimp really isn't needed.

Ditto to all the above. H&R five shot hammerless top break here - literally my grandmother's gun. I load it with 1.1gr BE and a sized piece of buckshot.

I'll try to remember to check my Lyman .32 set tonight. I know it has both a roll crimp in the seating die and a separate taper crimp die meant for the 32 ACP. I'm just not sure if the roll crimp shoulder is low enough in the die for the .32 S&W.

I recently came into some .32 S&W brass so I need to check anyway.

My experience with the Lee .32SW/ACP dies is that they are short enough to do both. RCBS depends upon the "vintage" of the dies.

Been reloading .32 S&W-Long for many years. Because the rounds are for a semi-auto, I need the roll crimp to keep the HBWCs from moving forward during cycling. For my .32 revolver, a mild taper crimp (Redding) is all I need.

    I use a LEE .32 S&W Classic.
The sizing/seating die is turned over and placed on the loaded cartridge still in the shell holder.
The die is held straight and given a couple taps with a plastic mallet to install a crimp.
