I'm only part way through my coffee today, but these two items seem to be mutually exclusive.

The former implies a unique number for each pair, but the latter implies a common number fir all halves in a batch.

I'm curious too. Anyone with a modern Lyman block will encounter several markings. The date is obvious, but I too wonder what the others signify.

    Greetings,

One of the numbers stamped on Ideal/Lyman blocks was the "Cherry Number". i.e. the number of the cutter that formed the cavity.
