    Anyone shooting cast in a AR15 6x45

Putting together a 6x45 on an AR. Has anyone shot cast bullet with this setup? I have a Lyman 85gr mold and the RCBS 100gr [I] could work with.

I have one to play with, if I ever get around to it. Got some loads with bullets from a NOE conical mold done up too. I have 70 and 80gr conicals, one is a nose pour mold a fellow on here made for me with the cherry from the Don Eagan estate. The 70gr mold has one cavity that has a hollowpoint pin. I had a McGowen barrel made, 1/10 twist. I've only fired a few shots, it was grouping pretty good. AFter messing with 6mm components, I know my .223 upper won't see cast unless it becomes a necessary thing!

Are these 2 designs too heavy or long for use in a AR15

Isn't anyone shooting the 6x45 aka 6mm-233 in a AR?

I have an AR in 6x45. I have not worked up any cast loads as I do not have a mold yet. The bullets sound to big by the weight to fit in an AR magazine. I have some 75 gr jacketed that just make it for OAL to fit in the magazine. Interested in what you come up with. I have started working up some some cast loads for my AR in 5.56.

Who makes a good light weight bullet mold for the 6x45?

Going to give the Arsenal 60gr Bowman a try. Has anyone tried this one?

We had a design for 6x45 here 10 years or so back (BRP 246-77-GC). It was a stock mold cut by BRP, who has since stopped offering mold blocks. Thread here: https://castboolits.gunloads.com/sho...70-243-boolit:

My 6x45 is a Contender Carbine (1 in 12") rather than an AR. My regular load for it is Sierra 85gr HPBT over 25.5gr H335 in military brass for 2710 fps. 27.5gr BLC2 or 26.2gr IMR4895 give me similar velocities.

I found it difficult to get adequate neck tension with the non-boreriding cast designs (e.g. the Lyman Loverins). The RCBS 24-95-SP works reasonably well if your twist rate will handle it. The BRP 246-77-GC worked better in mine. Suggest heat treating your alloy if you plan to push them past 1800-1900 FPS.

    RCBS 24-95-SP
(sized .244/Bull Shop Speed Green/Heat Treated WW/TW-72 Brass)
    IMR 4895 19.0 gr - 1925 fps
    IMR 4895 23.0 gr - 2312 fps

    BRP 246-77-GC
(sized .245/Bull Shop Speed Green/Heat Treated WW/TW-72 Brass)
    H414 25.0gr - 2475 fps
    H414 27.0gr - 2670 fps
    BLC2 24.0gr - 2570fps
    BLC2 26.0gr - 2705 fps

Thanks for the information. hoping the Arsenals 60gr will work. Would be nice if it will cycle. Going to PC them, hoping this will help.
