    .250 Savage and cast boolits

I am a fan of cast boolits in the .250 Savage, and I would like to discuss experiences with others who love this cartridge.

Haven't tried it yet, but I will. Have a few cast up from others I am going to use in a 99R in .250 and Interarms Mark X in .25-06.

I have a 250AI and load 100gn RCBS boolits, gas checked and powder coated. Have several 1/4 bores but really need a 1:10 twist for this combination. Shoots average 1 1/2ins at 100yds, while they are good for casual target shooting, they don't have the gilt edege accuracy of 'J' boolits.

Hold Still Varmint; while I plugs Yer!

The rifle in .250 Savage that I am currently working with is a Savage Mdl 16 bolt action. Boolits that I have experimented with down thru the years are: Cramer 55A(nominal 100g), Saeco 100g, RCBS 25-100 and RCBS 25-120. The RCBS 25-100 and Cramer 55A have both shown to be quite accurate. My definition of accuracy is 1" at 100yds for 5 shot groups. Occassionally I will get a 5 shot group better than that, but my norm is 1" to 1-1/2". I have experimented with Smokes traffic purple and the RCBS 100, but for some reason(s), I can't explain, accuracy is not nearly as good as a norm, but occassionally I will get close to 1" or .9".
The powder I am using is Reloder 7, with charge weight of 15.5g with OAL of 2.337". Primer is Rem 9-1/2.
What powder do you use? Does powder coating give you as good accuracy as non-powdr coated?

You could also try HiTech coating.
