    In my entry level factory AR’s chambered 5.56 I could easily chamber a 90gr SMK, the throat goes forever. Of course it’d be expensive and wouldn’t stabilize. Point is that with an AR all the good info above about how to determine optimal seating depth may not be very useful depending upon your rifle.

    For those rifles I seat at what feeds well from the magazine because there isn’t really anything else to do.

    Some say that as long as at least the width of the bullet/caliber is inserted lengthwise into the neck, you're good. I was testing some of my 6.5 CM loads with the bullet jump thing. Turns out my rifle takes a dim view of sucking up to the rifling.

    Yeah, but some say a lot of tuff. Some of those experts don't realize that quite a few cases don't have necks a caliber long.
