If you work for the government, you have a new federal holiday.

If you are a conservative, it gives you a day to grind the liberal's noses in the fact that Republicans freed the slaves from folks who were mostly Democrats.

13 sick days, 20 days paid vacation, and now 11 federal holidays = 44 paid days off, 9 weeks annually, more than 2.25 months of work days.

I spent 24 years as a federal employee. Salaried. Got paid the same for a 20 hour week as I did the for the 40 hour week. Or the 80 hour week, for that matter. I worked a lot more 80 hour weeks than 20 hours weeks, though. Lots more 12 hour days than 8, too.

If it makes any of you feel better, I'm Active duty USMC and I'm at work today. Business as usual.

I knew you and your brothers and sisters will be at work. Just like I was in my time. However many days in a row, however many hours in a day. Thank you!

I'm so embarrassed by the stupidity of our present governance. Does that mean no mail tomorrow?

Post Awful said they can't change things that fast, so the mail will go through this time.

I cannot for the life of me understand why our esteemed President (Hatch Act duly satisfied - yes, I'm a federal employee, and I worked on Friday) didn't insist that Congress make this new holiday effective NEXT YEAR! That's assuming that it had to be done at all, but we won't go there.
