Wall Street and the Bond Market are in Turmoil. They are not prepared to shutdown the Stock and Bond Markets for a Long Weekend tomorrow (17 June 2021) for a Holiday that Biden only signed into Law this afternoon without warning; but being good progressives they want to jump to.

any good excuse will do when the richest folks in the world decide to consolidate wealth and take all the little minor investors, day traders and idiot investor's money and push the out of the markets.

Common sense (a dire shortage in government) says that if you want to bring a new holiday in you should decide which one you’re going to get rid of. Who’s paying for all of this? I’m not being racist about this, but there’s a HUGE price to pay for every holiday where millions of people stay home and get paid and everything in the government gets shut down. We need to have a finite number of paid holidays. In another hundred years we’ll just stay home every day?

They get an average of that many days off for vacation, holidays, etc. There are actually only 10 holiday days off.

No problem with the holiday, but it does seem like a 12 hour until implementation time was strange. I was supposed to go on post to get something done today and got the heads up late yesterday that civil service employees are off today.

I just noticed on the news a minute ago that our school district is not canceling scheduled Summer school. They're on a tight enough schedule that they could afford an unprojected no-school day I suppose.

13 sick days, 20 days paid vacation, and now 11 federal holidays = 44 paid days off, 9 weeks annually, more than 2.25 months of work days.

Another holiday - just one more for the school district in NJ that is in an uproar because the Socialist school board announced that no holiday would be named on the school calendar - but I'm guessing this one will be listed . . .

I think every American should sign a petition and demand another holiday . . . THE EVERY FEDERAL EMPLOYEE HAS TO WORK HOLIDAY . . . . they finally have to work at least one day a year, the rest of us get the day off

im not sure about 44 holiday days for fed workers, actual fed holidays I thought were less than dozen. if this how it is with federal job its not much different than a good corporate job like the one I had before being run out of it by affirmative action.
after 2 years I had 2 weeks paid sick leave, 2 weeks paid vacation, double time pay if had to work on one of the federal holidays and double-time pay for anything over 40 hours each week. plus about the best medical insurance, death insurance and disability insurance, plus there was a great pension plan, that is until the corporate board stole the pension funds and told everyone you got to start over with this 401k thing.
these days another holiday, what's it mean to me, not much unless I was planning trip to post office or bank or something, other than that its just another day, the sun will rise and the sun will set
