    New/old #7

    Been shooting some old tn made aa#7,made in 80,s id say,,payed 8 bucks a pound for it!!
    Anyhoo,,im running low and picked up some new western made #7.
    How close are these to each other?
    I have a splendid load for my 9mm,wonder if the new stuff will shoot as good,,,

    I think the formula has remained the same. I would start over with the load development though. It should be about the same as powder from different lot numbers.

    The rule has always been if you change lot numbers reduce by 10% and start again. I would do at least that.

    I used up 8 pounds of 80's vintage and replaced it with a new jug. It didn't behave the same. I had to reduce the load by a full grain in my 9 mms. Accurate powders have a reputation for inconsistent lots.

    The problem with Accurate Powder (fka Accurate Arms) is that it had several different producers over the years

    If your old No. 7 was made in Belgium (which I don't think it was in the 80s), then the Belgian lots are virtually identical to the newer lots that are made at the St. Marks plant in FL. At least it was for 40 S&W and 10mm and my chronograph. If it is the even older Israeli vintage (or other), I don't have experience with it, and the advice to re-work the loads is sound.

    Bingo!!!same thing ive found.new stuff goes 140 fps faster in 9mm
    Had to reduce 1 grain,to get my old vel spot.btw,,my old stuff is made in isreal,,,vintage
