The problem is that the gun is sitting on the carpet, which is on the floor, which means there is a temperature differential, which causes moisture to form on the contact surfaces and causes rust. I leave my pistol in my center console much of the time with just some BreakFree CLP and have never had any issues. Of course, low humidity around here as well. Would never do such in a higher crime area or where there is a more humid environment.
