    Aguila Ammo Hijacked!

Now it's come to this: 7 million rounds on their way to the USA.....

    https://ktla.com/news/nationworld/mi...xican-highway/

Will it show up for sale on-line?

Well, when we see Aguila ammo for sale at a "too good to be true price" we will know where it came from. The Cartels simply use very little 22 rimfire ammo, if any, so they have to dump it on the black market somehow.

It may be headed to down South America.

We don't hear much news from those countries, but its a big place, and lots of things are going on down there,
legal and otherwise, besides just drug runners with AK-47s.

Years ago, there was a big smuggling bust here of .22 ammo headed to South America that
had dodged the export license fees & permits.

Might try to smuggle it into the U.S. and sell it here giving the price
of 22 ammo. And as one member said if the price is too good to be true then a good guess as to where it came from would be a done deal. Kinda like the old expression "it fell off the truck". Frank

Even money says the hijackers thought it was truckload(s) of 9mm or 5.56.

I'm surprised and happy the drivers are still alive.

If the drivers were found alive, they were in on the heist. Dollars to donuts, the thieves just knew it was ammo, but didn't know what caliber.

I hope this doesn't further add to the shortages you folks have been experiencing. Hopefully it does show up for sale in your parts but I would suspect maybe not.

So, are Ruger 10/22's, Ruger MK__'s, Marlin 60's, and Browning Buck Marks about to become the Cartel weapons of choice for the next decade, and subject to additional regulation for that reason?

    That's quite a bit different from .22's

They want to export ammo they need to put an airstrip next to the factory and fly it out in small batches on DC-3's to some safe harbor to truck transfer. These guys are had and this won't be the last.
