    40/50 Sharps Bottleneck

Anyone had a 40/50 Sharps Bottleneck chamber cut using a 4D Reamer Rentals reamer? I'd like to know what your neck diameter is on a fired case if so. They state that their reamer cuts chambers to utilize a .408 diameter bullet, but that's useless info... neck diameter is what one really needs.

    Thanks.

In my opinion the cost of a quality NEW reamer made to your specs (Manson $115.00 to $170.00) in the overall cost of building a new rifle makes it a NO BRAINER over some rental reamer with unkown specs that may may not be sharp and cut a straight chamber.
And then you have it for future use or you can sell as having cut one chamber and with the reamer print your potential customer knows exactly what he is getting.

I used a rental reamer for the first custom rifle I ever had built, 20 years ago NEVER AGAIN!!!!

You make a valid point, and I am considering going the custom reamer route. It's just CPA Rifles is limited to two types of reamers, JGS and Pacific Tool and Gauge. I imagine the reamer from 4D Reamer Rentals is likely just fine, but no offense to the company, but it's been like pulling teeth trying to get information out of them in regards to chamber dimensions. It's as if they don't know, or don't care. I'm not sure which.

The more I sit here and mull it over, the more I think I will go that route.
