    Harbor Freight Mini Bench Vise

    https://www.harborfreight.com/2-1-2-...ise-97160.html

This little vise came in handy to dress up the excess silver solder on a bolt for a little 22LR rifle that I reattached the handle on!
I could rotate the vise so that I could easily see where I was filing!

Soft jaws were made from a piece of 1/2” copper tubing.

    The price is right also!

I am interested in having a backup vise for my office. Wonder how wide the clamping jaw is? By that I mean the clamp that holds it onto the bench or table.

Dual jaws: smooth surface for plastic or wood, diamond pattern for metal, V-groove for round stock
Easily clamps to benches up to 1.75 in. deep, can also be mounted permanently
Two-way 360° swivel at the base and jaw
    Maximum jaw opening: 2.25 in.
    Anvil for light shaping
    Durable steel construction

Thanks, that would fit any desk or table I have. May just have to get me one.

I have a "Parrot" vise on my shop bench I really like. Rotates 360 in vertical, rotates 360 in horizontal and 360 when on extension. nice big jaw surfaces probably 2 1/2 deep X 3 1/2 wide. Not a super heavy duty vise but very versatile.

Am looking at the Grizzly Pattern makers vise for other end as it is also a very versatile vise and the jaws rotate for tapered parts.

My bench top is 3 1/2" thick so few clamp ons will work.

I like mine. I noticed that some users reported that the clamp mount would fail. I bolted mine so as not to test the clamp.
