Has anyone cast any .30 caliber hollow point boolits? I’m wondering how they would work with a 30.06 for wild hogs. The heavier the better. Any molds to recommend.
Thanks

I believe it's either arsenal mold or MP molds that has a .30 mold named for some type of hammer. It has a hollow point variant I think it was around 140 grains. I was looking for 300blk molds I cant recall if it worked well for 3006 or 308
My 30-06 round uses a 220grn RN interlock, not the fmj but open jacket at the end. And it absolutely destroys pigs.

johnsonian means the Hammer of Thor ... i use it for bear and anything else that pisses me off..... Bluejay was the honcho for that mold, and you should contact him.

The best “heavy” HP from MP are MP 311-180 and MP 311-235 (218-225grs) which was in stock just few days ago but all 25 quickly sold out.
For light medium size game I used MP 311-410 HP (130grs) and MP 312-159 HP Hunting (151grs in HP, 159 in FP).
I also have MP 312-440 Hammer Of Thor and I had MP 314-140 Sledgehammer.
MP 311-235 (218-225grs) Looks like this is what I’m looking for. Now I’ll have to start checking to find it for sale. Is it easy to cast with?
Thanks
The Mi-hec casts a good hp boolitt
I’m looking at the MP 311-235 (218-225grs) mold. Has anyone used it with a plan base?

For up to 1200fps In my Ruger American Ranch bolt action rifle / 300BLK/ I don’t use GC,
My every day load for small game and plinking for. 1175fls is 12grs of N120, and it is very accurate, and I use 20:1 alloy for my HP.
This Thursday I got 1y old European roe deer (cull shoot) at 100m with that bullet, and last year I got chamois at 110m and one roe doe at 98m. I use it also for subs In my .308. My buddy hunts with my bullet (sub load in .308 Tikka) and he got few hogs (head/neck shoots), few foxes, even one your red stag. Full penetration and exit always. At sub velocity it opens better then Sub-X 190grs.
You have to preheat the mould well on a hot plate and use at least 780F for alloy but you will get wonderful bullets that vary 0.5grs, if you do your part.
Tip : Use a soft alloy - 50-50 mix COWW and soft lead . Air cooled not Quenched or water dropped .
Use a gas check and drive them hard ... 1800 to 2000 fps .
A shot placed in the vitals will do the job nicely .
Again ...use a gas check , cast soft and drive hard .

Just traded a RCBS 30-180-FN HP that I bought for the .30/30. Turned out to be too heavy for my taste in the .30/30 but shot well in the 06. Should be about right for wild hogs./beagle
