Could you post a picture? Thought I was decently versed in shotguns but all I can tell is it’s not a double. If it’s a long recoil variant I have a friend who might be interested.

I also may have some interest. Is it an A5 (AUTO 5)? A picture would help.

ok thanks for gone to post
this was made by browning in belgum itwas to be an A 5 ,
but germany was going to invade and they sent all shotgun parts to the the usa
Rem at the time was making a model 11 . so the parts worked . but the receiver was already made. so rem finished the shot gun untill they had to change to war type
the serial is is just generic there could be many i know of 2. the code stamp {3letters} on barrel is when the gun was finished and ready to ship
    no match
about 45 they had problem of the labor to do the {monument} for the front sight so many they put a polly cutts weaver to make the front sight as high
in about 46 they tried a 20ga . but they are rare
for most the gun is full browning A5 BUT rem had to make use of some of their parts so they used the MODEL 11 extention . on the barrel
you cant use a browning ab barrel but from time to time the others do show up
all works same but dont say made in Belgium
as said serial dont tell much as all were made about 1940 and i do know there is one --if not more with the same serial
if you have other questions i can try to answer
the gun has not been in use much, too clean and bet it was in a closet for MANY years
if this was a A5 sweet16 it would sell for over $2000 . and for most to look at it would pass. i am asking about old blue book. if i can get it fine will stay
hope i got some info out

This is a smokin deal! I have a Remington model 11 16 gauge, I sent it to Mike Orlen in Mass he cut the barrel to 21 inches and installed choke tubes. I murdered ducks on Lake Champlain last fall and shot a gobbler with it a couple weeks ago. Great gun, great gauge.
