    Need motor wiring help!

Need someone with experience in motor wiring to get this motor wired up. It is a 120v ac single phase that came from a handicap chair lift system. I would like to eventually get it adapted to my RF45 mill to raise the head.

It also has a reversing contact unit to wire in as well, to change direction of the rotation ,,,, with a momentary contact toggle switch.

I have searched for diagrams and no luck from the original company.

What’s the box on the motor with the screw terminals?

Any help would be appreciated! I can also email or PM message.

Attached are pics of the mystery box and crude schematic of the wiring (without the reversing contact unit).

I think the box is a potential relay. I need to pull it up on a real computer.

Do you have a make and model number on the motor?

I tried googling the numbers, but had no luck. Also, the mystery box had no info other than “this side up” on one side.

    Here is the label.

In reversing a capacitor start AC induction type motor, you usually have at 6 wires coming out of the motor landed on a terminal box. By reversing the field coils you can reverse the motor, but on yours, I have not idea.

That is why I prefer dealing with 90VDC motors! Easy to reverse and vary the speed on. I have a 2.5HP one on each of my wood lathes (from old tread mills).

Are you sure it is actually reversible electrically?????????????? I have one similar from an old chair system and it reverses MECHANICALLY in the gear box.

Let us know what you figure out.

electric motors will clearly state if it is reversible. And it will also include a short statement on how to reverse.

This one has a basic worm drive gear box and the mechanics used pulleys and steel cable. Based on the entire unit, I am pretty sure it will reverse, otherwise it would only raise or lower the chair.
The motor label has no other info, and looks to have been made by another company, probably to the specs of the chair lift company for their app.

I may have to keep the gear box and keep an eye out for a different motor. My father in law in the appliance/electronics repair business for 45 years was stumped as well.
