    22 hornet from 17 hornet

I was wondering if anyone had done this conversion. A friend sent me a bunch of 17 hornet cases. I have no use for them, but don't want to ruin them necking up to 22 caliber. I've done some case conversions before, but just wondering if there are any tricks that will keep the thin brass from splitting (besides annealing, of course).
    thanks

Get a .19 or .20 expander button, use a good lube, and you should be OK. Multiple step process usually works. If you get a neck split in this process anneal.

hornet brass is very thin, there are 17 hornet shooters and this is brass as you state "have no use for" might trade or sell as is,
if determined to resize if its once fired, maybe anneal and then gently fire form with just as much bullseye or other fast powder as it takes under a shell full of cream of wheat.
the 22 hornet as a rule has fairly short brass life which is the why folks ream chambers to K hornet

I shoot 17 Hornet and as easy as it it to crush the necks when seating bullets, I think you would just destroy them. I agree with farmbif a trade for 22 Hornet or sell to buy new is your best bet. 17's are hard to find too.
