It got buisy at the end. So projects went on hold. I chose orders and i am transferring to NAS Pensacola in November. I get to go home and stay home for the first time in 17 years. Wife and I are hopeing to buy a 4 or more acres to homestead on. So all projects and reloading and shooting go on hold so we can purge the apartment of junk and pack. I will have the Navy move me but somethings i prefer to move myself (guns, reloading stuff, aquaponics. It may be a year before I get up and going again. Depending on where we go i will need to build a shop, greenhouse and start my mini farm. Lol i am not allowed to do projects in the house.

Thanks for carrying that flag a little farther down the road! And welcome back, Brother.

    Pensacola, huh? Lucky dog!

SWMBO wants us to move back to NW Florida. Had 7 acres a couple of miles West of Defuniak Springs back in the mid-80's. Sunk everything we could beg, borrow, or steal into it, and lost it all when Uncle Sam decided we needed to move again before I ever actually got there. If I could figure a way to get Orders to Florida, I'd certainly do it, but I can't see how I can get us there now. I don't think it's fair. Just because I've been retired nearly 25 years, why can't I get a set of orders to NW Florida!?!

Are you heeding your deployment return briefings and not heading out back with an E-tool and MRE sleeve and full battle rattle??

    Good to have you home/back

It was an interesting place. Met my first publicly vocal Klansman there. We were walking through the park around the little sinkhole lake in the middle of town during some event there. Guy was running for office, told us he was going to get all the N-words off welfare... I was supposed to be there for 2 years, but Uncle Sam announced they were closing the unit I was assigned to shortly before I got there, and after I'd put $60K into buying a place and setting it up. I signed in early in May, and shipped back out October 1st. Wound up losing the place, and every dime of my money. SWMBO moved to Ft. Walton Beach while I was at Diyarbakir, and we went from there to Sumter, SC., after that. It was very different than the areas along the beach. Kind of like moving from LA to central Georgia. P-Cola would be a good place to be so you can visit your kids. Hope all the drama from that is over by now. My folks divorced when I was 4, but got along fairly well, and my step-mom is also my second mom. I've known quite a few folks where the drama never ends, though. Best wishes, and prayers, that things will go well for you and yours.

Welcome back, glad you are back and all is well. Tell your wife, I applaud her service. My wife put in a lot of heartache, time and effort when I was gone on deployments. The wives serve as much as their spouses. I can attest to that. Thank you for your service.
