Mini Chop saw revisited for Case Cutting & Forming

I posted on another thread that my HF Chop Saw Bit the Dust . I know they all the same from different sellers. I settled for One From Micro-Mark. They are a Hobby small tool Co.
I liked there style because they had a blade guard . Also i found they were quieter . also the belt was longer . than my old Model . I don't Know if these are new style Or this company has had there made differently
anyone else purchased a new one lately to compare

I can’t hear mine over the shop vac that collects the chips and drop off.

I have a HF saw and don't mind the noise as the worst part is when it's actually cutting, and that only lasts a split second. I replaced the blade with a different brand though, and it cuts smoother than the OEM blade.

Couple years ago i was asked to make some 300 black out cases, looked at what was to be had in the mini-choppers, bought a Proxxon KGS 80 miter saw, little pricy but wanted something that would (hopefully) last and it has, am now making brass for pistol shot loads, have cut up a bunch of 308's for the 45, 223's for the 380 and am using 10mm magnum for the 10mm, cut about 1/8th inch off the 10 mag brass for 40's. Am a happy camper that I got the proxxon, has served me just fine, have cut up many 100's and still running great, guess my only 'complaint' is the cost of the blades, 30/40 bucks per but they do last quite well. Makes a fair amount noise but what tool 'saw' does not. Was able to make a stop mod so when making a bunch of cuts it is adjusted so the same cut is made. OK, just my 2 cents.

Can you provide a link to this better blade? Thanks.

Count me in for a better blade - the HF blades blunt quickly.

Every once in awhile my HF saw performance slides. Might need a blade but a take apart and cleaning and tightening exercise really helps.

I use cut off wheels from HF. Cheap for a pack of 10, fits the HF angle grinder as well.

    1. How fast does the cutoff wheel take compared to the toothed saw blade?

    2. Do the cutoff blades produce a lot of grit as they wear?

    3. Does the brass heat up appreciably?

Sounds interesting. Seems a cutoff wheel is bound to deliver a better edge than a dull ragged toothed blade.

Just throwing this out to show my jig setup to trim .40 S&W down to .70" for swaging a 175 .40 pure lead slug into them to make .44 Mag Jacketed Soft Point slugs.

May try the cutoff wheel mod later.
