So after the first test batch, I ‘hammer tested’ my new PC boolits. All good.
Since then, I have shot some boolits; no leading.
Do you hammer test a boolit after each PC session? Just wondering, and thanks!

I use to do one most of the time. At this point I just assume it’ll work.
What changes that you need to test one from each batch? What would you do if you coated 500 and found one that didn't stick.
Coat em and shoot em.
Thanks Redd/Husker. I feel I got it down and can tell by appearance/scratch/question if I need to smash one. I will monitor barrel after firing/cleaning, etc. Kinda what I thought, but being brand new I wanted to check.
I almost never do anymore. I watch & adhear to process & temps I know work.
Glad its working as it should for ya!!

The only time I do it is when I change powder or something else in the process.
The hammer test was very popular for us early coaters developing the techniques back around 2013 or so. I tested 1 from every batch because it was a new rather unknown technology. Now I ESPC everything and only test a boolit if something just does not look/feel right. I have not smashed one of those little dudes in over 2+ years. I do not change powders or techniques, so testing is not needed.
It is a good test for guys like you that are just starting out and do not have the feel of what is correct.

Like others have said I only hammer test if I change something in the process.
Keep your powder dry and watch your six !!
I'm a new newbie to PC and have only run 1k or so down the pistol and carbine bbls, and I don't do any smash testing. Zero leading, and this is using 1:20 alloy with water quenching out of the oven for adding hardness. The key for me is using good powder and then following a proper procedure that works.
Yup!
