Which tune up kit for Rossi 92?

I am starting to like a Rossi 92 I bought a long time ago and haven't fooled with much.

For you guys that have done a tune up, which kit did you like? How was disassembly/reassembly?

AFAIK, the only good Rossi M-92 "tune-up kit" is from Steve ( stevesgunz.com )


I found disassembly normal....

However, the re-assembly was a little more difficult until I found that I needed to place a fired/empty cartridge case onto the bolt face, under the extractor, to get it together.

If you've never had one apart, I suggest getting the kit from Nate Kiowa Jones (stevesgunz.com) that has the instructional cd. Also watch a few YouTube videos. The 92 comes apart pretty easily, but getting the bolt back in can be tricky.

I used Stevesgunz parts and dvd with both of my Rossi 92s. The new extractor springs stopped the empties from trying to go into orbit. They smoothed up nicely. I put his peep sight on both, too. Works much better than the stock ones. I get out the dvd when it's time to reassemble.

I used a slave pin the width of the bolt. Figured that out after everything fell apart four or five times. Then drive it out with a small punch through the small hole in the right side. Also finally discovered long after it was too late that you really don’t need to completely disassemble it to replace the trigger spring. That comes under the heading: “Brother, you didn’t need to tell that one”.

I agree. Take the gun apart and remove the ejector spring. Proceed to your local Ace Hardware store and buy a spring the same size with wire about half the diameter. Cut some coils off the mainspring, basically follow the Marauder instructions. If you have a grinder, carefully thin the trigger return flat spring and polish. Use a .357 mag case in your bolt face for assembly to hold the ejector spring. It's not hard!
