Be careful putting powder on top. I spilled a few grains of pyrodex several years again and didn’t realize it at the time. It stayed there and it ate the paint. Not nearly as big of an eyesore as the side of my safe where it got loose when moving and rubbed a brick wall scraping the paint. Still functional so no harm no foul. Wife doesn’t see it as a good enough excuse to buy a bigger safe so I’m good with it.

Thanks, that's good to know. I keep my black powder substitutes in a different place.
Most of my stuff I stumble across but those Peters Thunderbolts were a long time search.

My gun safe has a small throw rug on the top where my specially trained attack cat takes her naps. Woe to the unsuspecting person that tries to get into the safe.....

I have a big stack of soft pistol cases on top of my safe. Has to be a dozen of them, all shapes and sizes.

Mine is covered with boxes, jars, tupperware, coffee cans and other weird containers full of cast bullets.

Mine is a old, reconditioned, high security vault.
    It's 6 & 1/2' tall, and 3' to the back.

Various things think they go up there to hide- instruction books I never got a chance to read,
'perfect' size empty boxes, parts that don't fit anything, that sort of thing.
However; they end up going up there to die instead.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

I've got an old dormitory size refrigerator on mine. Both my sons used it when in college. Younger son graduated in 1993. Wife used it after that in her elementary classroom until she retired. I've had it for the last 15 years. Still works. I guess that old cheapy refrigerator is better built than just about anything today

I have 4 large safes... all have "stuff" piled on them... one has all the back issues of Double Gun Journal as well as other tubs of reloading magazines. Another has a vintage display case with Marble's Outdoor items... Another is piled with old gun advertising that I haven't found wall space for and the last has a card file cabinet with alot of small items that I just don't want to get rid of. I confess, I'm a hoarder...
