In doing crimped military brass, I use my Lee collet neck die adjusted just deep enough in the press to push out the staked in primers and no more.

Knock on wood no problems thus far and no dedicated de-capping die needed thus far.

The 5.56 brass then gets a coarse trim in a Lyman Universal trimmer.

Next, a run on a borrowed Lyman case prep unit to chamfer and debur the case mouths.

Followed by a moderate pass on the RCBS Swagger II, and a finish pass on a Wilson case trimmer with their pocket reamer which gives a nice bevel for new primers to enter.

Lube with Lyman’s Unique and a pass in a FL die. Final trim on a Wilson case trimmer post sizing and a final pass on the borrowed Lyman prep to chamfer and debur the second time. While there the inside primer flash hole gets debured.

Wipe off the excess lube and that case is ready to be loaded for my AR’s, bolt guns or single shot Contenders. If it is fired in a gun that can utilize neck sized cases then the Lee collet die is used until it grows too much.
