    Pressure testing my 2-Ball Loads

    Here’s a follow-up for my two-ball load I’ve been working on.

    Load goes has followed:

    -2.75” Cheddite hull
    -26 grs of Longshot
    -MG42 wad
-2 .60 cal hard cast balls with a 20 ga low profile gas seal between. #47 buffer added.
-roll crimp with a bingo chip as an overshot card.
    - velocity hoovered in the 1100+fps.

    Pressure testing:

    1. 10,969 psi
    2. 10,573 psi
    3. 9926 psi

The purpose of this testing was to check repeatability of my last range outing. I shot these using mod and full chokes. Patterned better with mod.

    1 st shot:

2nd shot. Forgot to add buffer:

    3rd shot with the mod:

First shot full. That’s two holes, but I could not repeat that.

    2nd and 3rd full:

    Pattern size:l and pressure.

Now that is looking pretty nice BT! I am liking that.

I have got to get my butt out shooting to burn up some slugs I have had loaded for some time now. I also want to revisit the 2 ball load. Not sure I want to venture into the Tri-Ball load but a zippy 2 ball load does interest me.

Have you tried any other powders? Just wondering how Blue Dot would do since it gets a Tri-Ball payload to similar velocity at similar pressure. Longshot appears to be slightly slower burn rate than BD though. I'll have to see if Longshot is available locally but I am betting not or at least not currently.

Good stuff that! Thanks for posting those results.

    Impressive results!! Nice work!!

Blood Trail, little question .... were you using the MG42 or the Cushioned LBC wad?

In one of your pictures you showed the Cushioned LBC wad .... so I just wanted to confirm.

I had a look at both last night with two 600 round balls, and the lower or first ball sits much better in the MG42 Wad. The MG42 Wad has slight taper that the Cushioned LBC wad does not have.

Oh, it was the MG42 wad. I’d never loaded these in CLCB wads and honestly, I should as those wads are thicker than MG42’s.

Those where the LBC sabot slugs I was testing. Sorry for the confusion.

Looks good BT...one of my next projects is to find a deer load for my Dad's Winchester 1400 12 Gauge semiauto with a 26 inch modified choke barrel.

I will try this one first. Which 20 Gauge low profile gas seal do you use between the round balls?

    Thanks a bunch,
    LeonCarr

It’s the red one from BPI. It’s called the PT20GS item #222PT20GS.
