    Did I screw up?

I was in a local GS today. They had a bunch of #1 cans of Winchester AutoComp and an 8# of Bullseye @ $179.00. I didn't get it, need to work thru a 4# of TightGroup. I should have snagged it too! hc18flyer

I would have at least grabbed the Bullseye.

I use it, and at about $22. & change a pound--- I think I was paying close to that 20 years ago.

If it wasn't 85 miles away I would! If my math is correct, it would load 15,000- .38 Specials!

If you'd 'needed' it.... You would have bought it. Obviously you felt comfortable leaving there without it, so no...you didn't screw up. Perhaps you acted completely within reason, based on your needs, and maybe left it there on the shelf for someone who has nothing in reserve and 'needed' it. Good on you.

This is a good way to look at it. For someone who does not shoot a lot, 8 lbs of BE can be a 2-5 year supply. And the OP had 4 lbs of TG so at least a year or two of shooting for a casual shooter. And unless you are flush with primers, having more powder on hand is not going to do much good.

I would have passed on it but I am well stocked. I may have called a buddy and checked if he needed it. Would be good trade material too.

Do you have 15,000 spare small pistol primers to go with all that Bullseye? If not, I would not have bought it. If so, better luck next time.

Bet you it’s gone now. It is good to hear that there is some powder still to be found at somewhat normal prices.

I agree with this. OR, you could be like those terrible "hoarders" everyone is complaining about who just buy up whatever they can, whenever they can, needed or not, instead of as quoted post above says, leave it for someone who actually has a "needs" for it. I have powder I can't use, not enough primers.

Welcome to the club... I did the same thing (let 8# Bullseye go unpurchased) just as this "shortage" was starting... I have no idea what I was thinking... I guess that is because I was not thinking...

I'm not going to pile on, since you had 4 of TG and thats a lot for casual shooting I agree with not getting it. I did the same thing last wk. They had a four of bullseye which I use a lot of so I got it. They also had and 8 of 2400 and I already had 8 singles at home so I left it for the next guy. They also had 2 lbs of power pistol and four of auto-comp. I got the PP for 9mm and left the auto-comp. Had the PP not been there I would have snagged the AC.
When primers show up at a reasonable price I will be more aggressive. I'm not hurting for anything but would be more comfortable if I had 20k of each of the four main primer sizes.
