    Glock 20, 10mm Auto

    Hey guys,
probably Iīm to dumb to use the search function, but I couldnīt find anything about this topic inhere.

Iīm about to get me a Glock 20 for a hunting back up pistol.
I know about the polygon-Glock-barrel-thing, but didnīt know earlier when I had my Glock 17 and she didnīt really care about.

So, does anybody have experience with cast loads for the Glock 20?

If so, please teach me about it.

    Best regards,
    Jay

I shoot cast in my Glock M20, M29, M21, M30, M27. All with stock Glock barrels and all Gen4.
    Have at it.

Are there some bells and whistles to it?

Oversize .001"+ of course, but do you use a GC or are they coated or something?

What bullet weight and speed do you shoot them in the M20?

    I have a Lyman .401" 175gr. mold on hands, from my old .40 S&W.

i bought a wolf barrel for mine before i even shot it. Was told i needed it for cast at those speeds. It shot ok but actually shot better with the factory barrel using cast. No harder to deal with then a 44 mag or 357. At those speeds your going to want to use a harder alloy. I like something 15-20bhn either pc or a good lube and my hands down favorite powder for full power loads is aa9. Its a ball powder so use a mag pistol primer in it but its really not nessisary. (i just have alot of mag primers i like to use up) The lee 175 tn works great but has to be seated about as deep as you can because the mag and chamber are on the short side.

It really is a good idea to slug your barrel as well. In the 9mm's, Glocks are notorious for having oversized bores. I size mine for .3575 and they don't lead, even with +P velocities.

I use 165-200gr cast PC bullets in my Glock 20 with no abnormal issues. I find the 6" wolf barrel to have a tighter chamber and prefer the stock barrel. I'm sizing to .401.

Yeah, normally you would prefer the tighter chamber for more precision.
But to tight might give issues with cast bullets, I get that.

Whatīs the dia of the case at the front?

    Cheers,
    Jay

Just use the stock gun, do some load experimentation like one should do with any gun and load development and find what it likes and have at it.

Actually overthinking is a bad thing for most of us. Seriously, it is. Believe it or not I tend to do that at times but quickly get away from that as quickly as I can even after 51 years of reloading. It creeps upon us like a thief in the dark, trying to disrupt us and cause confusion and rob us of good thinking and level headedness.

Case mouth at front measures nominally 0.422" I put a very slight taper crimp on the end to undo the bell. Bullet in this case is a 200gr WFN from NOE

I, as a general rule, taper crimp 10MM, 40 S&W and 45 Auto fairly heavy.
At one time I didn't but now have for some time.
