Though I wasn't loading it when I had a barrel like yours a lyman 311359 115gr spire point gc with 7.5 grs of unique is a nice accurate load.

Friend of mine shoots competition with his. I cast Lee 110 gr GC bullets L2 for him lubed with my Black Magic lube. He uses Trail Boss with a little fluff to keep the powder against the primer.

Mine works just fine with the Lee C309-170-F bullet. I cast in Lyman #2 alloy for the 30-30. I use 3031 as a propellant.

10 gr. Unique with any 170 gr +/- works great in my 14" Contender barrel.
311291 is what I am using.
    Very accurate and light recoil.
Women and kids love to shoot this load.

Many years ago I had a 10" stainless Contender in 30/30 with a muzzle brake and hated that brake so traded it off. A year ago I acquired an old but unfired 10" octagonal barrel without the brake and love it. The boolit I am using is the Mihec 130 gr. with Red Dot (8 gr.) as the propellent to reduce muzzle blast and flame from slower powders. Accuracy has been good for me out to 50 yards but have yet to shoot much farther. Hopefully it will prove to be as accurate as my 32/20 since I have plenty of large rifle primers.

My contender is 14” and I’m new to casting so I couldn’t find the molds I wanted so I asked for bullets for my birthday from my mother. She bought 1000 bayou bullet 30 carbine hi-tek coated. I don’t have much experience with them but so far it seems good. At 50 yards it’s still very tight when loaded over 3031. I like that bullet for the carbine and for 30-30. I may end up buying a mold similar in shape and using a gc and pc in place of the hi-tek

150 grain GC bullet, 8.0 grains of Unique. No recoil, lots of fun.
